the neighborhood hangout

The first thing you’ll probably hear is that our pool parties are legendary. We tell people because we love inviting people to experience them with us. For Foxcroft neighborhood residents and friends throughout the city, Little Rock Racquet Club--which everyone just calls “The Racquet Club”--has a golden reputation as the place to be. Whether it’s for the swimming, the tennis, the workouts and classes or just to socialize, people are drawn to LRRC and effortlessly become part of the easy-going vibe (though those tennis matches are anything but laid back).

Amenities A-Plenty

Our campus is nestled organically into the Foxcroft neighborhood that straddles West Little Rock and Midtown. On our busiest of summer days, the parking lots fill up and lines of parked cars can stretch through the neighborhood for blocks on end. But most of the time, parking and getting in and out of here is a breeze. The Racquet Club’s campus includes our large main building, three idyllic outdoor swimming pools, a sprawling area of tennis courts (8 clay, 4 hard) leading to a second building with our indoor tennis courts (4 more courts) and additional gym area. A playground, basketball court, and indoor/outdoor spin area complete our outdoor offerings.

Dive into the experience

With three pools, one of which is available year-round, swimming at The Racquet Club is as big a draw for our members as tennis is. From biggest to smallest, we have a 50-meter lap pool, a 25-yard lap/rec pool, and a spacious kiddie pool for the younglings.

The 50-meter pool down the scenic pine-topped hill is used primarily by serious swimmers, including the Arkansas Dolphins swim team and our adult Masters Swimmers program, as well as for some swim classes, but the laps are available for all members when not otherwise in use.

The central focus of the club is our main rec pool, a 25-yard beauty with a three-story slide, a diving board and kiddie slide, surrounded by an open patio with our iconic yellow and white striped umbrellas to match the sun’s golden hues.

New in 2020, immediately next to the 25-yard pool we have a redesigned and expanded Kiddie Pool. This newest pool offers numerous fun water features and even has some areas in the shade to protect babies’ (and parents’) delicate skin. It’s used by kids from infants to middle-schoolers, though the children also love the main rec (25-yard) pool. A lifeguard is regularly on duty at both of these pools, though not always available.

Our pools are open whenever the club is open. Come for laps at dawn, a day of play in the sun, or a calm evening swim. Sunbathe in summer with a favorite beach read, sipping on a White Claw, perhaps. It’s a happy place of happy people.

The epic family-friendly parties we hold out here always have plenty of games for the kids (including the beloved watermelon-eating contests and penny dives), often a bounce house, maybe a swim-in movie. They aren’t just for the kids, though. There’s plenty of food and adult beverages for the grown-ups and a fantastic social scene.

Once the weather turns cold, we enclose the 25-yard pool in a giant inflatable bubble. It’s not as pretty as the pool in summer, but it gives our members access to year-round swimming in any weather.

Tennis

Our tennis facilities are among the best in the state, and the club is a popular site for tournaments. We employ incredible tennis pros who are available for individual instruction whether you are a competitive player or have never held a racquet. Our tennis leagues are close-knit, fun-loving, and competitive! We have fun, whether singles, doubles, mixed doubles, all levels. We just love seeing those little green balls soaring across the court after a satisfying whack of our racquets. It’s something of an addiction, but a healthy one.

Indoor Tour

Inside, we have children’s areas including fantastic, Best of Little Rock-winning birthday party facilities and an exciting LEAP activity room for the little ones.

The Racquet Club locker rooms each have sauna and steam rooms, and separate men’s and women’s hot tubs. Our wonderful massage therapists also give therapeutic massages conveniently right off the locker rooms.

Upstairs is our gym floor, complete with a cardio theater, ample weights and strength-training equipment. Our certified personal trainers can work with you here to customize a training program for you whatever your athletic skill, fitness level, age, or goal.

Unlimited classes in our upstairs group fitness classroom start at 5:15 a.m. and are included in your membership. Also included in your membership is our great FoxFit (formerly Foxcroft CrossFit) group that trains for “The Murphy” each spring, supporting and holding each other accountable for the daily WoD (Workout of the Day) challenges. Additional class offerings include several types of Yoga classes, Pilates, L1FT and SH1FT, Group Cycling, Barre, Sculpt, Power Push, AquaFit, among many others. The class sizes are relatively small, so you can get individual attention as needed.

Also upstairs is our restaurant, Overlook Grill and its outdoor deck overlooking (get it?) the pools and courts. Restaurant operations are currently suspended during the pandemic, though we do offer snacks, frozen treats, and drinks, including beer, wine and alcoholic seltzers.

Who We Are

Our membership reflects the diversity and community spirit of Little Rock. We like it here, and we like each other. We always welcome new faces, whoever you are. This is the sort of place that pampers your soul without decimating your checking account. It feels somewhere between indulgent and utterly comfortable the way your favorite spot on the couch can be. It’s just the neighborhood club. But it’s a nice one, and we’d love to show it off to you.
